We are going to leave a lot of cc dept behind when we leave the us. Is there an amount level at which the cc co will just do a write off?
When we go there will be no property for them to go after.

They almost always sell the debt to a collection agency if they cannot contact the debtor.

Most likely a collection agency won't try and bother you if you are outside the U.S... most likely phone calls if they can get your number, maybe letters, but their ability to do anything to you legally is very difficult. Your military pension should be off limits without the involvement of a judge. And your pension may be off limits even if they knew about it. It wouldn't be a bad idea to talk with a lawyer who is educated in debt collection law.
