My nephew and I were in Baton Rouge today and listening to New Orleans radio about a bill that was just shot down that would allow concealed guns to be carried on college campuses in Louisiana. My nephew (who's 18) spoke up and said that was a stupid idea. That people at school get mad at each other and if they had a gun - a shooting could occur. Well, I was more wound up about that subject than I should have been and said something along the lines of "you need to get your head out of your ass."

So we discussed the idea of college students (who are 18 and older) carrying guns and the fact that they could get angry. I asked him if he knew any people that carried guns? Since we live in Mississippi he answered "just about everybody I know carries a gun in their vehicle." So I followed up with "do any of these people ever get angry at other people?" He saw where i was going with this and we both agreed that of all the people we personally knew - none of them had ever gone on a shooting spree or even shot anyone for that matter.

While pointing to all the cars traveleing on I-10 I asked "why not then subject all of society to these rules? Why not ban guns for everyone, all of these people you see before us? Afterall, they could get mad, and innocent people could get hurt."

He replied, "well then only the criminals would have guns."

"Thanks for making my point for me" I said.

I then explained to him - that 'gun free zones' that could not be enforced was about the stupidest thing that I'd ever heard of.

Now if you want to have fencing, metal detectors, and armed guards - then the liberal fantasy of a 'gun free zone' might could actually work. But as long as an armed nut can just walk into a crowded building (with no one to stop him) and start shooting - the concept is as ridiculous as the liberals who created it - sporting their Victoria's Secret panties in a ginger bread world where armed law enforcement stop crimes before they happen. Dude, I feel safer already.
