I have been unemployed a year. I have 30k in student loan debt through the gov which I intend to re-pay tho I am in default. I have 30k in Student debt that my father is paying as the co-signer and has agreed to pay off for me. I have a home with a lean and the first they can not come after me for. The second my ex-husband co-signed and he will be paying that back. I lost my car to Capital One and they have sent me a letter stating I owe almost 5k. My question is, Should I decided not to pay the Capital One, and Only pay back the Gov student loan, will this affect my ability to come and go from the states to Ireland? I have lost my job, car and home in the last year. I had a job that paid 100k per year, but I have nothing left of my savings or even anything to sell. I love my BF and want to start a new life there with him, and work. We are worried I may have problems with exiting or entering countries. I just applied for my first passport and it has all ready arrived in the mail. Thank you for your assistance. Hello

I note with interest your comments about they can't get judgement if they can't serve you. We received a letter 2 weeks ago from a law firm claiming they have judgement against me for a very old debt. Yet I was never served nor summonsed and I have been living in the same house for 7 years. I'm about to get onto the courts on Monday to find out if this is true; and will then commence dismissal proceedings if true but be very aware that some collection agencies are using bad practices!
